Wrath Cookies are clickable objects in Cookie Clicker that sometimes replaces Golden Cookies in certain circumstances. They are considered the opposite of Golden cookies that may give different, unique effects to hinder or boost cookie production when clicked. Just like Golden cookies, it will stay in its place for the on-screen duration before disappearing if not clicked.

Many aspects of Wrath cookies can be improved via certain Upgrades or Garden plants. These aspects include time between each spawn, the duration of each effect, the amount of time on-screen, etc.. Most Golden cookie upgrades also affect Wrath cookies, and Wrath cookies contribute to the Golden cookies clicked stat just like Golden cookies do.

The main factors that determine whether Wrath cookies replace Golden cookies are the Grandmapocalypse stage and Skruuia in the Pantheon. While each subsequent Grandmapocalypse stage increases the chance that a Wrath cookie replaces a Golden cookie, Skruuia makes all naturally spawned Golden cookies into Wrath cookies with a greater chance to grant a negative effect.

Spawn Chance

The chance of getting a Wrath Cookie instead of a Golden Cookie depends on the Grandmatriarch's status, which is listed under the Special heading on the Stats tab:

• Status: Appeased - Chance for Wrath Cookies is 0%.
• Status: Awoken - Chance for Wrath Cookies is 33%.
• Status: Displeased - Chance for Wrath Cookies is 66%.
• Status: Angered - Chance for Wrath Cookies is 100%.

Wrath Cookies also have a 15% base chance of being summoned by the Grimoire's Force the Hand of Fate spell.

Using the Skruuia spirit in the Pantheon also causes all cookies to spawn as Wrath, regardless of Grandmatriarch status. Chances for effects that hinder cookie production are also increased.

Wrath Cookie Effects

All possible effects of Wrath Cookies. The durations listed are their base values (not affected by Upgrades, Garden plants, Krumblor etc). Streak prevention and other effects are not accounted for.

NOTE: The chances below are very approximate. Use the probability calculator (in the "Outcome probabilities" section down below) for more precise chances, which can vary depending on your game.

• ~25% chance of Ruin!:
  • Instantly lose cookies, whichever is less:
    • 5% of cookies banked + 13 then multiplied by goldenCookieGain
    • 10 minutes worth of CpS + 13 then multiplied by goldenCookieGain
• ~25% chance of Clot:
  • x0.5 (halved) CpS
  • Lasts 66 seconds
• ~5% chance of Elder frenzy:
  • x666 CpS
  • Lasts 6 seconds
• ~2% chance of Cursed finger:
  • CpS set to 0
  • Lasts for 10 seconds
  • Cookies per click set to CpS x Original buff time length. The game uses buffed Cps for the calculation, but changes to the Cps after the buff started will not be accounted.
• ~2% chance of Building Debuff (requires 10+ total buildings owned):
  • Random building will be picked from among eligible candidates
    • A building is eligible for selection if 10+ of that specific building is owned
    • If no eligible buildings exist, instead gain Frenzy (CpS x7 for 77 seconds)
  • Selected building provides a CpS rust of N / 10 (where N is building count)
    • Rusting is CpS divided by 1 + rust modifier
    • Example: building of count 125 is selected, CpS is divided by 13.5 (expressed as "1,250% slower" in-game)
  • Lasts 30 seconds
  • Each building's effect is unique, so multiple of different buildings can be active at once

The following effects are also present in Golden Cookies:

• ~25% chance of Lucky!:
  • Instantly gain cookies, whichever gives less:
    1. 15% of cookies banked + 13 then multiplied by goldenCookieGain
    2. 15 minutes worth of cookies (CpS x 900) + 13 multiplied by goldenCookieGain
  • Will give the most cookies if cookies banked is 100 minutes (1 hour 40 mins) of CpS
  • Will scale accordingly with CpS-altering effects (except Wrinklers)
• ~4% chance of Building special (requires 10+ total buildings owned):
  • Random building will be picked from among eligible candidates
    • A building is eligible for selection if 10+ of that specific building is owned
    • If no eligible buildings exist, instead gain Frenzy (CpS x7 for 77 seconds)
  • Selected building provides a CpS boost of N x 10% (where N is building count)
  • Lasts 30 seconds
  • Each building's effect is unique, so multiple of different buildings can be active at once
• ~1% chance of Dragon Harvest (requires active Reaper of Fields aura or Reality Bending):
  • x15 CpS (x17 with Dragon Fang)
  • Lasts 60 seconds
• ~1% chance of Dragonflight (requires active Dragonflight aura or Reality Bending):
  • x1111 cookies per click (x1223 with Dragon Fang)
  • Lasts 10 seconds
  • Does not affect Cursor CpS
  • 80% chance to remove Click Frenzy if it's active
  • 100% chance to remove Click Frenzy from Force the Hand of Fate’s effect pool if active when casting
  • Reduces the chance of Click Frenzy from natural Golden/Wrath cookies by 20 times if active when clicked
• ~2% chance of Click Frenzy:

  • Golden/Wrath cookies from storm will not increment 'Golden cookies clicks' stat (and subsequently achievements)
    • Random drops can still be unlocked
• ~5% chance of Cookie chain:
  • Each wrath cookie clicked after, will give x10 + 6 more cookies than the last, until chain ends
  • During chain, subsequent Golden/Wrath cookies spawn every 3 seconds
  • Cookie chains start at Bank/1 billion cookies

Outcome probabilities

To calculate the possibilities of various outcomes, go to https://lookas123.github.io/Golden-Cookie-calculator/. Here's how to use it:

1. Set the settings according to your save's current settings (probabilities may differ depending on dragon auras, seasons, etc.)
   1. "Dragonflight (aura)", "Reaper of Fields", and "Reality Bending" are dragon auras. Leave them unchecked if you do not have them slotted.
   2. Uncheck "More than 9 buildings?" if you have no building type with more than 9 of. (It is checked by default)
   3. Uncheck "More than 100k cbta?" if you have baked less than 100,000 cookies in the current ascension; "cbta" stands for Cookies Baked This Ascension. (It is checked by default)
   4. Uncheck "Lumps unlocked?" if you do not have Sugar Lumps unlocked. (It is checked by default)
   5. "In Business day?" refers to whether Business Day season is currently active (via season switcher or otherwise). Leave unchecked if it is currently not active. You can check whether Business day is active in stats; if there is an "Season:" in the "Specials" section and it says Business day, the save is in business day. If not (or if the "Season:" is absent), the save is not in business day.
   6. "Skruuia?" refers to whether Skruuia is slotted in any slot in the Pantheon. If it is, check it, otherwise leave it unchecked.
   7. "Dragonflight (buff)" refers to the buff generated by the Dragonflight aura. Check if the buff is active, otherwise, leave unchecked.
   8. "Grandmapocalypse stage' refers to the stage of the Grandmapocalypse. Set to 0 if the Grandmas are appeased.
2. Press "Calculate".
3. A table will generate. Each row refers to the chances of a certain outcome, and each column refers to the chances of outcomes for a specific circumstance (e.g. Golden or Wrath cookie, or the outcome of the previous Golden/Wrath cookie). If one is looking for probability on average, scroll to the far right for the "Cumulative" columns.

Golden Cookie Timing

There are three crucial timings for Golden Cookies:

• Spawn time: how long it takes for Golden Cookies to be generated.
• Duration: how long Golden Cookies will stay on the screen.
• Effect duration: how long the cookie's effects will last.

Spawn Time

Golden Cookie spawning is treated like any other object, and is thus subject to the game's built-in spawning mechanism. The time between one cookie spawn and the next is always between the 2 numbers T_min and T_max (which are initially set at 300 and 900 seconds, respectively). During this interval, there is a

chance for a golden cookie to spawn each frame. (The default frame rate is 30 FPS, or 30 frames per second.)

The probability of a golden cookie spawning can be approximated by the following functions:

where p, P and P^-1 are probability density function, cumulative density function and inverse cumulative density function, respectively. T=T_max-T_min, measured in seconds.

The mean average spawn time can be approximated as

The median spawn time can be approximated as

It is the solution to the equation ${\bar {P}}({\bar {t}})=0.5$, which is the value that is half the time larger/smaller than the actual time required to spawn the cookie.

Duration

The duration of a golden cookie is the amount of time it will last for before disappearing. Since you need to actually click on the golden cookie before it vanishes for it to actually have any effect, increasing the longevity of golden cookies makes it easier to find and activate them.

Additionally, having at least 1 Golden Cookie currently on-screen will reduce the duration of any newly spawned Golden Cookies by 5% per pre-existing golden cookie. This reduction is multiplicative and stacks with all the factors listed above.

Golden cookies have a chance to give you one of several different buffs, each of which has its own unique effect and duration. The table below gives a summary of the different buffs one can get and what they do, as well as the amount of time they last for.

Wrath Cookie Gains

Strategy

• Natural Wrath cookies overall result in a net increase in cookies, so one should always click them.
• During cookie storms, zooming in will make every golden cookie spawn in a small area, allowing one to click a very large amount of cookie storm drops in one Cookie Storm. Note that Wrath cookies have a greatly elevated rate of Cookie Storms, being ~5% compared to ~0.7% from Golden cookies.
  • Golden/wrath cookies are better for Easter eggs than wrinklers due to the chance to drop eggs being much higher from Golden/Wrath cookies, and since Wrath cookies have a much higher chance of giving cookie storms, it is best for Easter eggs.
    • Use Dragon Orbs to quickly spawn Wrath cookies. Its "wish" will spawn Wrath cookies according to the current Grandmapocalypse stage and/or if Skruuia is equipped in Pantheon, but the latter is worse due to Skruuia's secondary negative effect being boosting the chance of Ruins and Clots.
• Wrath or Golden cookies from Cookie Chains can be used to farm Golden cookie clicks, and Wrath cookies particularly benefit them due to a greatly elevated rate of Cookie Chains from them, being ~5% compared to ~0.7% from Golden cookies.
  • Cookie chains may be used to easily unlock the achievements Early Bird and Fading Luck, and to increase the Golden cookies clicked stat. Wrath cookies also increase the stat just like Golden cookies.
• Elder pledge and Elder covenant may both be used to toggle between golden and wrath cookies. However, it takes time to reach stage 3 so golden cookies may still spawn.
  • Elder pledge can be canceled by buying Elder covenant then buying Revoke elder covenant.
• Due to Dragon Harvest and Dragonflight being roughly 5x rarer with Wrath cookies, the respective dragon auras are barely worth using.
• Season changes may be used to highlight certain Golden or Wrath cookies; however, note that it is impossible to distinguish between Valentine Golden and Wrath cookies.
• Though the Clot effect may seem a detriment, it can actually be useful in several cases. If Wrath cookies appear often enough, activating one that gives the Ruin effect during a Clot will cut in half the number of cookies lost; and since the price of flipping the Golden Switch or garden plants is based on the unwithered CpS, a value affected by Frenzy and Clot, flipping the Switch or planting during a Clot will only cost the player half the usual price (as the Switch deactivates Golden/Wrath Cookies, this is only a viable strategy for flipping it on, not off unless if Dragon Orbs is used). However, this is not as effective as selling buildings after ascending at least once.
• Cookie Chains set the next natural Golden Cookie spawn time to 3 seconds, even if the cookie chain somehow ends before the next golden cookie spawns.
  • This mechanic is used in a strategy called Chain Abuse. Chain Abuse is nearly impossible to execute, but leaves dozens of Golden Cookies onscreen. The steps to execute it are below.
    • Get a double spawn and click the spawn lead. DO NOT CLICK THE PSEUDO NATURAL GOLDEN COOKIE. It will be onscreen until it's clicked or despawns.
    • The spawn lead must give Cookie Chain
    • After 3 seconds, another Golden Cookie will spawn. Click the spawn lead to continue the cookie chain
    • Let the Pseudo natural despawn.
    • After 3 seconds, another non-chain Golden Cookie will spawn. This Golden Cookie will have the properties of a natural Golden Cookie. To continue chain abusing, this spawn must be another double spawn and repeat.

There is a variation where a Storm Drop is clicked instead of letting the Pseudo natural Golden Cookie despawn.

Achievement

Only one achievement is exclusive to Wrath cookies. However, Wrath Cookies also count towards Golden Cookie achievements.

Trivia

• Golden Cookie upgrades purchased also affect the Wrath Cookie.
  • Note that Get Lucky increases the duration of the Clot debuff, and therefore increases lost production.
  • The only exception is the Garden, where Golden cookie frequency upgrades will work only if the last click is a Golden cookie, and vice versa.
• If you are only in stage one or two of the Grandmapocalypse ("Awoken" or "Displeased"), then the cookies that appear in the cookie chain will randomly alternate between Gold and Wrath. For example, you may start the chain by clicking a Golden cookie, but the next cookie that appears in the chain could be golden or red, as could the next one and so on.
• 666 is popularly portrayed as a significant number in mythology, usually described as "the number of the beast". Thirteen is used because thirteen is considered to be an unlucky number.
• Wrath cookies have different appearances depending on the season. Starting with v1.0411, pumpkin cookies can be seen during Halloween season. During Valentine's Day season, wrath cookies are represented by a heart cookie. During Business Day season, wrath cookies are represented by a red contract. During Easter season, wrath cookies are represented by red bunnies with large black eyes.
• According to a news tick, the flavor of a Wrath Cookie is "somewhere between a blood sausage and seawater".
• When you get a Clot, Cursed Finger, Rust, or Elder Frenzy, and purchase Elder Pledge, the status will not disappear, nor will any unclicked Wrath Cookies.
• It is impossible to scroll down in menus while hovering over golden cookies.wrath cookies. The same is true for golden cookies.
