Open sesame control panel.
Open Sesame provides all sorts of commands to apply with just a click (earns cheated cookies taste awful achievement).

WARNING: Before doing this, know that you hold the power to easily (and/or accidentally) ruin your save. If you do want to do this, make sure to back it up or at the very least turn off saving.

Open Sesame is a debug panel for Cookie Clicker's Web/browser version. It can be opened with a console command, or by changing the name of your bakery. The panel contains a multitude of features to assist in debugging the game.

Method

There are two methods to open the console.

  • You can open the console using the function Game.OpenSesame();.
  • On the web version of the game, you can instead add 'saysopensesame' to the end of your bakery's name. For example, "Rachel's Bakery" becomes "Rachel saysopensesame's Bakery", or "Rachelsaysopensesame's Bakery". It is worth noting that if adding this phrase to the end of the name exceeds the character limit, the game will cut off the end of the phrase, and the command will not work. Changing your name afterwards will not close the console unless you refresh the page. This method does not work in the Steam version of the game.
    • To leave debug mode, remove the 'saysopensesame' from your name, save the game and then reload the page.

Opening this panel will secretly award the player the "Cheated cookies taste awful" Shadow Achievement for cheating in cookies, even if the panel's functions are not ever used.

Function

The panel has many features, such as spawning Golden Cookies with whatever power you want except for Everything Must Go. It also includes features such as debug Upgrades, that do various things from making golden cookies spawn rapidly to setting cookie production to 0.

Having it active also has some other effects:

  • Clicking the seed counter in the Garden will toggle between having all seeds and only Baker's wheat.
  • Control Shift clicking the seed counter randomizes the Garden.
  • Holding "CTRL" on your keyboard while clicking a Wrinkler will toggle it between its shiny and normal state.
  • The Stock Market gains a Toggle Speed setting to set its tick speed to 1 second.

Upgrades can be added and removed at will, either with the add/remove all buttons on the panel, or by toggling them on/off from the stats menu using Neuromancy. For instance, you can remove "Cheated cookies taste awful", making it appear as though you haven't cheated.

There are thirteen debug upgrades in Open Sesame mode. As this is virtually a hack, they are all ridiculously overpowered. All the upgrades can be toggled on and off at will for the price of seven cookies directly under the Upgrades tab in the Stats menu.

Trivia

  • The flavor text of "Ultrascience" may be a reference to a quote said by Jesse Pinkman in a Breaking Bad episode titled "A No-Rough-Stuff-Type Deal."
  • The flavor text of "Turbo-Charged Soil" is a reference to a line from Idiocracy where the idiotic people in the future think electrolytes is what plants crave.
  • The flavor text of "Reindeer Season" is a parody of the reindeer names roll call in the Santa's Reindeer song.
  • The flavor text of "Magic Shenanigans" is based on a meme of the same name.
  • The debug upgrades "Web cookies" and "Steamed cookies" are Flavored Cookies normally available in the game's web version and Steam version, respectively; they are included in the debug menu to enable them in the version they're not normally available in, but doing so will not provide any benefit to the player (hence the effectiveness of 0% and the text "Only of any use in Cookie Clicker's web/Steam version, of course"). Players can acquire "Web cookies" in the Steam version, and "Steamed cookies" in the web version, without cheating by exporting their save between the two versions (the effectiveness will still be 0% for the mismatching upgrade). This makes "Web cookies" and "Steamed cookies" the only debug upgrades that can be acquired without cheating. However, upon ascension, Steam players will lose "Web cookies" and web players will lose "Steamed cookies" unless they are slotted in a Permanent Upgrade Slot, enabled through cheating, or gotten again through exporting.
